Mrs. Yvette C. Browne, Sejah Farm of the Virgin Islands
Mrs. Yvette C. Browne is a respected leader in agriculture and food systems development, with influence extending throughout the Virgin Islands, the Southeastern United States, and the Caribbean. As Co-Owner and Operations & Logistics Manager of Sejah Farm of the Virgin Islands, she has played a central role in advancing the farm’s mission of sustainable food production, operational excellence, and community engagement for more than 26 years. Working alongside her husband, Dale Browne, she oversees strategic planning, logistics, compliance, and program development that directly support local food security and agricultural resilience.
Beyond her work at Sejah Farm, Mrs. Browne serves in key leadership roles that promote sustainable, equitable, and culturally grounded agricultural systems. As Chair of the Southeastern African American Farmers Organic Network (SAAFON), she supports organic and regenerative farming practices among African American farmers, emphasizing environmental stewardship, food sovereignty, and the preservation of agricultural heritage.
As Board Co-Chair of the Island Food Security Network, she collaborates with public, private, and nonprofit stakeholders to strengthen the Virgin Islands’ food system infrastructure. Her work focuses on increasing local production capacity, improving post-harvest systems, and building resilience against climate and economic disruptions.
As Executive Director of Slow Food Virgin Islands, she champions the global Slow Food movement’s commitment to good, clean, and fair food. Her leadership promotes local food traditions, sustainable production practices, and equitable access to nutritious, culturally relevant food across the territory.
Academically, Mrs. Browne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix (UOP). She is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Business Management with a focus on food systems and organizational leadership. Her academic training strengthens her ability to align agricultural practice with sound business management, policy awareness, and strategic development.
Through her entrepreneurial leadership, governance roles, and scholarly pursuit, Mrs. Browne continues to serve as a key advocate for sustainable agriculture, food sovereignty, and community resilience in the Virgin Islands and beyond
