Schantell Taylor, Healing By Choice Detroit

My commitment to community care is deepened through my work with Healing By Choice Detroit, where I serve as a practitioner and co-executor within a circle dedicated to healing justice and community care.  At the heart of my work, healing is an act of communal reclamation.  I integrate diverse healing modalities to address the roots of trauma and foster regenerative practices for marginalized communities in Detroit, Hawaii, and beyond.

In parallel with my work in Michigan, I am deeply committed to preserving ancestral wisdom through the Polynesian Indigenous Knowledge Organization Michigan (PIKO). I founded this organization to honor Native Hawaiian traditions and the spirit of aloha, kuleana (responsibility), and mālama (care).   I work to keep the cultural heartbeat of the islands alive within the diaspora.  Whether through traditional arts or Birth as Ritual,  my mission is to bridge these sacred lineages—ensuring that every individual I serve feels the strength of their ancestors and the support of their community and access to ancestral wisdom.
